Which ID documents are accepted in the UK?

All documents issued by government authorities bearing the first name and surname, address, date of birth and a photograph are accepted.

These include:

  • Passport
  • ID card

Which documents are valid as proof of address?

Utility bills (electricity, water, gas) and account statements no older than 3 months are most often used. Mobile phone bills are not accepted.

Who must provide the documents when incorporating a company?

To incorporate a company, the ID documents of the director, majority shareholders with greater than a 25% holding and the company secretary are required.

Must the documents be endorsed?

No, it is no longer necessary for documents to be endorsed.

Are documents accepted if they are not in English?

Documents in a language other than English are accepted,
but it is necessary to translate and authenticate documents if they are written in non-Latin characters (Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Greek, etc.).

Current Bank Account

Is my physical presence necessary to open an account in the UK?

For new clients, our policy requires a physical presence to open a current bank account. This is to ensure a transparent relationship with both the client and the manager of the bank collaborating with Tax & Advise.

What is required for opening a current bank account?

Experience must be demonstrated in the business being incorporated, ability to provide a business plan and having connections with the UK.

Can a current account be opened in another currency?

Yes, this is possible. The only condition is that it is first opened in pounds sterling.

At which bank will the current account be opened?

Tax & Advise offers the option to open accounts at any of the leading banks in the United Kingdom.

How long does it take to open a current account?

It takes around 3 weeks to open the current account following the initial meeting with the selected bank.

Will it be possible to manage the account online?

Yes, you will be sent an activation code for online banking via e-mail.

Accounting

How will Tax & Advise manage my accounting? How will I send my invoices?

You will be able to send your invoices using our Virtual Office service, created for each individual client.
You will be able to find the link to your virtual office in the “Client Area” of the Home Page of our website. Each client is given a unique username and password.

VAT registration

How long does VAT registration take?

The VAT registration timescales do not depend on Tax & Advise, but on the local tax authorities. It generally varies from a few weeks to up to 3 months.
